Virtual Leadership: We recognize that the social media revolution has changed the way individuals learn, develop relationships and lead. It can be an exciting and empowering time to become an emerging leader-but we also know it can be demanding and intimidating. Virtual spaces can amplify the power of the virtual community but this can also be the fuel for the new virtual leaders. We will explore the means of building capacity for emerging leaders, giving permission to move beyond the virtual space into the physical community, and how to collaborate with cities, rural counties and schools.
Virtual Conference Literacy: We recognize that there are individuals with disabilities in our community who are not part of our traditional lecture and classroom learning. As the digital world becomes increasingly on-demand, the ability for these individuals to participate effectively, safely, and efficiently online is critical. The goal of this conference is to bring together emerging leaders who are doing innovative work in the realm of virtual education. We will ask how virtual spaces can be made accessible as well as explore ways to leverage virtual spaces as part of a total education delivery system.
Virtual Community Planning with Civic Engagement: Virtual spaces are becoming a more common, cost-effective method for organizations to engage their community. As the Department of Commerce recently recognized, “... this increasing use is expected to contribute to the sense of connectedness that is an important part of today’s social and civic fabric.” We will explore what it takes to establish a community wide virtual learning community, what are the challenges and benefits of leveraging virtual spaces and how to engage community members as part of learning activity. This will be an opportunity to talk about moderators, learning communities and community and organizational partners. 7211a4ac4a
